It seemed from the factory and car show visits that gas struts on the bonnet and boot would look the part.
Somewhere I picked up the following specifications - Its on someones blog bit I cant remember - my apologies.
I started the boot first:
SGS engineering - GSSV8-200 Adjustable Stainless Gas Strut ref GSSV8-200-PT-LT
I purchased the Rod Protection Tube. - One on each side. I tried with only one but I think one puts a slight twist into the boot.
For the lower arm mounting I stiffened the glass fibre with a length of angled aluminium fixed in 4 places.
The top end - after initially getting it wrongly positioned ( see the extra two bolts) so the boot would not shut, I fixed into the D shaped reinforcing strut that is hollow in the centre. Fitting jack-nuts into the glass fibre and M6 bolts into the jack-nuts
The lower end fittings are fixed approximately 160mm back from the front edge of the bonnet/ boot. For the boot the top fitting sits in the curve of the lid and the mounting bracket needs a gentle curve to match the internal curvature.
Having gained some confidence I tackled the bonnet fitting :
SGS engineering - GSSV8-150 Adjustable Stainless Gas Strut GSSV8-150-PT-LT
I purchased the Rod Protection Tube and Safety Locking Tube for one side and the Rod Protection Tube only for the other.
For fixing I used the same process.
